Good afternoon, friends.
I want to use this opportunity to wholeheartedly congratulate all Nigerians on the successful completion of Nigeria 2015 presidential election.I am joyous to see our dear country taking this giant stride forward in her history as a democratic nation. As far as I am concerned, I do not see the victory recorded in this election from a personal or partisan perspective in favour of any party or a group.Rather, I deem it a triumph by the electorate. This victory is the true voice of the people which every true democrat should embrace.
May I also use this medium to felicitate Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (Rtd.) and my friends on the other side of the political divide upon the victory of their beloved party in this election.I implore them to be magnanimous in victory. All the electioneering that preceded the election should be seen by all Nigerians regardless of their political differences as part of the ideal democratic process whereby participants conduct themselves orderly as refined gentlemen though not without some tension. We were being orderly when we observed the time of campaign which was done in compliance with the rules and when it was time for the election, we followed the due process. Now that the election is over, we should remain orderly and put all hands on deck to move the country forward. All the time of criticisms against a particular personality or party has gone.It is normal to criticise, castigate or even condemn during campaign but it is abnormal and unacceptable to do so after election when the winner has emerged. There is time for everything under the sun and politics is not an exception to this rule. This is part of the technicalities of politics. If we all keep this in mind, all politicians and their supporters will take everything as it comes.
I also want to commend the president, Dr.Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the maturity he has shown by his exemplary conduct as he conceded defeat in the election.By this gesture, Mr. President has disappointed the devil and his agents whom he ( the devil) had assigned to truncate our nascent democracy.
As we, at Legal Gists, join well meaning Nigerians to celebrate the victory of democracy and the victory of the Nigerian masses today, there will not be any legal post today on our platform. As the federal government has also declared 3rd and 6th April, 2015 as public holidays, Legal Gists too will rest on those dates. We shall resume posting on 7th April, 2015.Till then, stay fit.
Thank you, God bless us all.
