A man caught his wife red - handed in bed with another man somewhere in Lagos, Nigeria.He reported the matter to the police and insisted that his wife should be charged to court for this offence she had committed. He also wanted to sue her to court for damages.What are the chances of this man in the relevant law in Nigeria of today?

THE LEGAL POSITION
The position of the law with regard to the above scenario is that the man cannot succeed in instituting any action ( be it civil or criminal) against his wife as there is no in Nigeria that declares adultery as an offence except sharia law which operates in only in the Northern part of the country.

However, adultery is a good ground for dissolution of marriage in the Nigerian Matrimonial law.
