My neighbour's landlord went to the police station yesterday to eject him from his four - bed room apartment for owing him one year rent. What is the propriety of the step of this landlord in the eye of the law in Nigeria?

THE LEGAL POSITION
The above scenario is civil and not criminal in nature.So, it does not concern the police in the first instance.If my neighbour had committed a criminal offence  while in occupation of the property in that scenario, reporting to the police would have been relevant.

In the Nigerian civil proceedings, there is a laid down procedure for evicting a tenant which the landlord in the above scenario had ignored.It is unlawful to use the police to harass a tenant to vacate an apartment.
